Not only the modern sanitary building with family bathroom and baby-friendly equipment elevates the new facility to a real family campsite. Viking playground, forest beach bath, campfire site, sports area and the weekly changing animation program are included for all camping kids. And the tropical leisure pool in the TRIXI Park soothes the dull atmosphere of rainy holidays.
In the extreme southeast of the country, where the borders of the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany meet, the Zittau Mountains rise from the mountain world of Upper Lusatia. Bizarre sandstone cliffs rise from the gently curved ridges of Germany's smallest low mountain range, whose charm and beauty already fascinated the romantic Caspar David Friedrich at the time.
Directly at the foot of the Zittau Mountains is the community of Großschönau. The district of Waltersdorf - undoubtedly one of the most beautiful resorts in the region - nestles idyllically on the slopes of the Lausche, the highest elevation in the Zittau Mountains at 793 m.
More than 500 Upper Lusatian half-timbered houses, the typical architecture of Upper Lusatia, shape the townscape of the municipality and give it an unmistakable flair. The village is also famous far beyond the borders of the country for its unique weaving skills. The companies Frottana-Textil GmbH and Damino GmbH still stand as witnesses of successful textile industry.
Thus Großschönau fits into the ensemble with the well-known mountain communities of Jonsdorf and Oybin and is in good neighbourhood to Hainewalde with its castle and to the most beautiful village of Saxony 2003, the community of Bertsdorf-Hönitz.
